Review of Anna Dewdney Books

We came across these books when I was looking for children books that show the colour red. Here is my review of Anna Dewdney’s books, at least the ones that we’ve read so far.

Llama Llama Red Pajama

I can’t get over how much I love this book. We read it every single night and I have it committed to memory, but I still turn the pages with anticipation because the illustrations are so well done. The rhyming flows off your tongue and the its a nice story. The book ends with the little llama falling asleep, but along the way it opens up a great opportunity to talk about tantrums and mama’s getting angry.

Llama Llama Misses Mama

Maybe it’s because we read it first, but Llama Llama Red Pajama is by far a favourite above Llama Llama Misses Mama. This book shows lots of interesting animals and would likely be a book that could be read before a child starts school or day care. I don’t like the illustrations as much as Llama Llama Red Pajama, somehow it just doesn’t feel as clever. Still I’m comparing this poor book to one that’s a nightly ritual – this is definitely worth reading and a great book in it’s own right.
